The Advanced Open Water course is for adventurous divers who want to take diving to the next level and start investigating different unique aspects of diving that they can become specialized in.

Expect to take: 2+ days

►   Who should take this dive course?

Anyone who has completed the Open Water course and would like to push their limits to dive deeper.  The minimum age to enroll in this course is 10 years old, however, minimum age requirements vary slightly based on the Adventure Dives selected and are as follows:

10 years old to participate in these Adventure Dives:
Altitude, AWARE - Fish Identification, Boat, Digital Underwater Photography, Dry Suit, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Navigation, Underwater Photography and Underwater Videography.

12 years old to participate in all other Adventure Dives except the Sidemount Adventure Dive.

15 years old to participate in the Sidemount Adventure Dive.

►   What does this dive course involve?

This course includes 5 adventure dives of which the deep and navigation dives are the only two considered mandatory.  The remaining 3 can be selected from a growing list of adventure dives like wreck diving, night diving, search and recovery diving, peak performance buoyancy, fish ID, and underwater naturalist, to name a few.

There is a small amount of theory involved in the course. We will send you a link so you can do the E-learning at home before you arrive to the island, but most of the course is practical application and skill application during open water dives.

►   What is included in the price?

The US$400 (+ tax) for the course includes all materials, equipment, and tax, as well as the online certification as an Advanced Open Water Diver at the completion of the course.

►   What can I do once I've completed the course?

As a certified Advanced Open Water Diver, you can to go diving (accompanied by a buddy who is has the minimum certification of Open Water Diver) to a depth of 30 meters/100 ft.  Deeper dive sights with points of interest like ship wrecks, or marine life such as certain species of sharks only found at deeper depths, will become accessible after this program.  Your certification will never expire although a refresh is recommended after an extensive period of inactivity.  This certification is recognized world wide.

After obtaining an Advanced Open Water certification, interested divers can proceed to the Rescue Diver course if pursuing a diving career, or explore any of the other specialty dive courses provided by PADI.
