what we collect, and why

Splash Inn Dive Resort is a hotel and dive centre in West End, Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who is responsible for your information
Splash Inn Dive Resort, Main Street, West End, Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras, is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at info@roatansplashinn.com or on +504 9626-7919.
What we collect, and when
We only collect what you type into a form. Nothing on this site asks for information in the background, and you can read every page without giving us anything.
- Enquiry and reservation forms — your name, email address, phone number, the dates and party size you're asking about, and whatever you write in the message.
- Group enquiries — your name, email address, arrival and departure dates, and your message.
- Guest check-in — the above, plus your ID or passport number, so we can complete registration before you arrive.
- Diver liability release — your name, ID or passport number, certification agency, level and number, the date and location of your last dive, an emergency contact number, and any medical conditions that would make diving unsafe.
- Diver, snorkeller and passenger registration — your name, date of birth, home country and city, departure date, hotel and room number, emergency contact, email address, and your dive insurance and certification details if you have them.
The last two are dive-safety paperwork. Every dive operation collects them, and we cannot take you on a boat without them.
Health information
The liability release asks about medical conditions that would make diving unsafe. That is health information, and it deserves more care than a phone number.
We ask for it for one reason: so the crew taking you underwater knows about anything that could hurt you down there. It is used for that and nothing else. It is never used for marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone outside the resort and the dive team responsible for your safety.
You give it to us voluntarily, by choosing to complete the release and tick the box. You can decline — but we then can't take you diving, for the same reason an airline can't fly you without a boarding pass.
Where form submissions go
When you submit a form on this site, it is delivered to us by email through a service called Web3Forms, which passes the message on and does not keep a copy for its own purposes.
Depending on the form, the message arrives in one of three of our inboxes: general enquiries and reservations to info@roatansplashinn.com, group enquiries to rafa@roatansplashinn.com, and check-in and dive paperwork to our front desk. Our email is hosted by Microsoft and Google.
In plain terms: your form becomes an email in our inbox. We are telling you this because dive paperwork includes your passport number and your medical answers, and you are entitled to know that they sit in an email account rather than in a specialised system.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites.
If you agree to it, we use Google Analytics to count visitors and see which pages people read. It tells us that forty people looked at the dive packages last week; it does not tell us who they were. It sets cookies in your browser to recognise a repeat visit.
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we ask before any of that loads, and nothing analytics-related runs unless you say yes. If you decline, the site works exactly the same — we simply don't count you. You can change your mind at any time using the link in the footer.
Separately, the site remembers two things in your browser's session storage for as long as the tab is open: that you closed the offer banner, and that you switched language. Both are cleared when you close the tab, neither is a cookie, and neither tells us anything about you.
Other services this site touches
- Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.
- Web3Forms delivers form submissions to our inboxes.
- Google Analytics measures visits, only with your agreement.
- The 360° virtual tour is hosted by tourmkr.com. It stays as a still image until you click it — nothing loads from them, and they learn nothing about you, unless you choose to start the tour.
- The Book Now buttons take you to direct-book.com, our booking system. Once you're there, their own privacy policy applies to anything you enter.
- Links to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TripAdvisor and WhatsApp are ordinary links. Nothing from those companies loads on our pages.
Where your information goes
We are in Honduras, and the services above are mostly in the United States. If you are writing to us from Europe or the United Kingdom, your information will be handled outside your own country, which has different privacy laws.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and reservation requests stay in our email while we're talking to you and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back to us.
Dive paperwork is kept as long as the law and our insurers require, because it is the record that you were briefed and that we knew about your medical situation. That is its purpose and it is why it isn't deleted at the end of your holiday.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@roatansplashinn.com and we'll deal with it.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to object to how we use your information, to ask us to restrict it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw any consent you have given — including your analytics choice, which you can change from the footer at any time. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
We won't ask you to justify any of these requests, and we won't treat you differently for making one.
Children
This website is not aimed at children. Young divers are enrolled by a parent or guardian, who completes the paperwork on their behalf and signs it.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we'll change this page, and the date at the top will tell you when.
